Tyler Philip Ratcliffe Reflects on a Year of Growth, Faith, and New Momentum

Interview with Eric Abbott of Kingdom Chorus

As 2025 comes to a close, Kingdom Chorus artist Tyler Philip Ratcliffe sat down with Eric Abbott of Kingdom Chorus to reflect on a year filled with personal growth, ministry breakthrough, and creative momentum.

Tyler has continued to build a dedicated listener base while stepping deeper into his calling as a worship leader, songwriter, and collaborator within the Christian indie community.

Below is the full interview, offering an honest look into Tyler’s heart, his journey, and what he hopes listeners experience in the coming year.

Q1. "When you began working with Kingdom Chorus, you had certain goals. How have those goals changed as more people started listening to your music?"

    Tyler:

“That is a great question because my focus and goals have shifted drastically over time as we’ve worked together. The Kingdom Chorus team and I have really grown alongside one another, and they push me daily to reach farther. When I started with KC it was all about stream numbers and listeners to me.

We saw a lot of success really early on and hit all of our annual goals ahead of schedule. That’s when we began branching out into radio promotion and other projects.

It’s been quite the shift because it’s so easy to get lost in the business of it all. It actually got to a point where I had to take a brief pause and reset. Chasing numbers really means nothing if we aren’t fulfilling the Great Commission, so I had to recenter my focus on Him.

KC still does an amazing job keeping my metrics moving forward, and that has given me space to step back and focus on my WHY. We achieved my starting goals quickly, and the team and I were able to pivot in a much more edifying direction.

Indie artists want streams and listeners to validate that we’re on the same level as label artists, but that’s not why God gave us these gifts. KC really helped shift that mindset.”

Q2. "Every emerging artist has a turning point in their journey. What was one big moment this year that gave you more confidence?"

    Tyler:

“My biggest turning point this year happened while working on ‘Heaven Come Down’ with Jonathan Duff.

So many God moments lined up for that collaboration to happen, and it has been a game changer to have such a great friend in the same lane.

He is truly anointed, and because we’re opposites in many ways, he pushes me in areas I’m weak and I push him in his.

God has surrounded me with the most amazing team. People who genuinely want to celebrate wins together, and that has changed everything.

Last year my biggest turning point was starting with KC. This year, my turning point has been everyone else — my producers, my social media team, marketing team, other artists, and writers. It’s getting hard to even feel ‘indie’ with such an incredible team around me.

I can’t say that I found these people. God brought every one of them along at the perfect time.”

Q3. "Behind every stream is a real person listening. What did this year teach you about the impact your music has on others?"

    Tyler:

“I realized very quickly that it’s not possible to track the success of a Christ-focused song.

In every other part of the industry, success is simple: streams, listeners, royalties. But our focus is the Kingdom — the number of people comforted, souls brought to Christ, people who feel seen in the lyrics. You can’t track those things statistically.

I released several songs this year and some performed better than others. One song in particular didn’t grow in metrics right away, and that was discouraging at first because it was a personal favorite.

I ran into a guy at the grocery store who stopped me to tell me that this song felt like the story of his entire life and that he couldn’t stop listening — praising God for pulling him out of what he’d been facing.

That moment taught me that we can’t measure the real impact. When you don’t know the reach, you have to assume every song is successful in some capacity, because the intent is to edify the Kingdom.”

Q4. "As you look ahead to next year, what are you most excited to keep building on? What do you hope listeners experience next?"

    Tyler:

“Pretty simply, next year is about sharing more music and building more friendships. I have so many songs on my phone that I love. My wife Taylor and my kids know all these songs and they don’t even exist publicly yet.

They don’t follow one genre or sound — but I’ve decided I’m going to release them anyway because I love them, so they’re worth sharing.

I also want to spend more time writing for other artists. Some songs I write aren’t meant for my voice, but I’d love to partner with others who can bring those songs to life.

And one big thing — we’re working on a planned tour of worship nights with Jonathan Duff and our teams. We’re intentionally keeping them in small venues with huge production in intimate spaces.

We just confirmed a partnership with Compassion Ministries, along with a few other things I can’t share yet.”

    Closing Thoughts

Tyler Philip Ratcliffe continues to grow as a leader, collaborator, and worship artist within the indie Christian music community. His heart for ministry, combined with a dedicated team and a renewed focus on his calling, has shaped one of his strongest years yet.

Kingdom Chorus is honored to walk alongside Tyler as he steps into a new season filled with creativity, bold faith, and deeper impact.
